How to make a good Page Nine page
Page Nine is where people find the independents they won't find on page one. Your page is how they decide to get in touch, so here's how to make it count. It takes about 10 minutes, and you can save and finish later.
Before you start
Have these ready: five photos, a sentence about what you do, a starting price, and the links you want people to use (email at least).
1. About you
Your business or studio name is what people see. Your own name and phone number are only for us. Choose your neighbourhood from the list, not your address. If it isn't there, tap My neighbourhood isn't here and type it. We never show a home address.
2. Your niche and kinds of work
Choose the one niche that fits best, then up to three kinds of work, most important first. The first one shows next to your name in the Index. If nothing fits, tap None of these quite fit and tell us what you do. We'll find the right spot.
3. Five photos
- Your best photo goes first. It's the small photo beside your name in the Index and the big one when your page opens. Keep the work in the middle of the frame, because it's cropped to fit.
- Natural light and a plain background beat any filter.
- Fill the frame with the work: the mug, the plate, the room, the stage.
- No logos, text or collages over your photos.
- Use large photos. The app tells you if one is too small to look sharp.
- Instagram photos are fine. No need to shoot new ones if you have good shots.
- Your own photos only (or ones you have the right to use), and anyone in them has agreed to be shown.
4. Your story
- One line (80 characters): what you do, plainly. "Private dinners for six to twelve, cooked in your kitchen."
- In your own words (400 characters): what you do, how, and who it's for. Write it like you'd say it to someone at a market table. Links, emoji and personality are welcome.
- Prices from: a real starting price. People are more likely to get in touch when they know roughly what to expect.
- How people reach you: only what you fill in shows.
- In your words (optional): three short questions: how it started, what you're working on now, and where people can see your work in person. Your answers show on your page as "In their words", and people who answer come first in line to be featured.
5. Studio photos (optional)
Add 3–4 photos of you at work: your space, your tools, your hands. They help if we feature you. Features and collections are never paid for.
What happens next
- We read your entry within two weeks. We're checking it fits the listing rules, not judging your style. If something needs changing, we'll tell you what. You can send it again any time.
- If it's a fit, we email you a link to set up membership: $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year, paid on our website. The link works for 14 days.
- Your page goes live straight away, and you'll get your share link (pagenine.ca/p/your-name) and share kit: a Story, a Post and a QR code for your market table or studio door. The link opens your page in the Page Nine app.
Once you're listed
- Log in with your email (we send you a link, no password) and edit your page any time. Changes go live straight away.
- Each month we'll email you how many people opened your page and tapped Contact. It's private, and it's counts only, never who.
- Keep your photos and prices fresh. New photos are the easiest way to keep your page interesting.
- Share your link. Every share helps people find you, and Page Nine. Emails from your page arrive with the subject "Found you on Page Nine", so you'll know where they came from.
Read the listing rules and the listing agreement before you send your entry.
